Maria Vasilca | An Eternal Symphony

Stanca Maria Georgescu, 72, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at her home in Harrisburg with her husband William at her side. She was also affectionately known as ‘Duduta’, ‘Doda’, ‘Nasa’ and ‘Mom’.

Stanca was born in Pitesti, Romania on September 28, 1945, the daughter of the late Alexandru and Gabriela Georgescu. In 1972 she immigrated to Munich, Germany, then in 1976 to Toronto, Canada. Trained as a Mechanical Engineer, she spent the first part of her career in her field working for various firms in Toronto, such as Ontario Hydro and eLoyalty, and then also as an entrepreneur. Her true passion and calling was childhood education and she fulfilled that passion by earning her Degree in Education from York University in Toronto in 1997. She worked as an elementary school teacher until she retired in 2011.

Her joy in life and ‘raison d’etre’ was her family, both immediate and extended. She came to PA to be with her children and their families in 2013 and was overjoyed with the birth of her only grandson, Alexander, in 2015. Her warmth, sincerity, enormous generosity and kind heart touched everyone that met her and knew her. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Stanca is survived by her husband, William March; her sons, Adrian Paul (Victoria) Vasilca and Stephan Traian (Carmina) Vasilca; her grandson, Alexander Stephen Vasilca; and numerous extended family and friends in PA, Canada and Romania. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, 5501 Old Locust Lane, Harrisburg. Fr. Stephen Vernak, Pastor will be officiating. Burial will be in Hershey Cemetery.
